A Toy Fair Love Affair
Appropriately enough, Rich Frog founders Sarah and Maarten van Ryckevorsel first met at the New York Toy Fair. Sarah was working for a Kids Gift company in her home state of Vermont, and Maarten was the export sales manager for a puzzle and game designer based in Barcelona, Spain. When Sarah and Maarten were married a few years later, Sarah's brothers Rick and Greg were among the guests, and Julie was the maid of honor. The elephant, frog and mouse came later.
Not Just Another Pretty Mullet
Rich Frog began in the basement of a small house in Burlington, Vermont. As the business grew, John Gallagher joined as the company's first employee. Unfortunately, John was too tall to stand up in that basement, so his first task became to find Rich Frog a new home. We packed inventory and office supplies into our old Jetta and sent out a very funny moving announcement.
Old Mill, New Home
We now run our business from a19th century textile mill on the banks of the Winooski River in Burlington, Vermont. The funky old brick building has the original wood floors and you can still see the remains of the water wheel that once powered the looms.
